Calling All Parents With Basketball Experience! We need a coach for our 3rd/4th grade team this year! We are also in desperate need of assistant coaches at all levels. For head coaches, no basketball coaching experience is required but in order to provide quality instruction we do require prior playing experience. For assistant coaches, no experience is required! Club President & High School Coach - Bryan Powell
Bryan is the Head JV Women's Basketball Coach at Granite Bay High School. He has previously coached girl's basketball at Granite Bay's Cavitt Junior High School. He was also the head coach for the Granite Bay Pumas, a youth AAU Basketball Club devoted to girls in Granite Bay. Bryan has a passion for girl's basketball and is a firm believer in the positive life impacts that come from playing competitive team sports at the high school level. Director of Coaching & Varsity Level Coach - Julie Ford
Julie is the Head Varsity Women's Basketball Coach at Granite Bay High School where she also teaches PE. She holds a B.S. in Exercise Science from Pacific Union College, as well as a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia Irvine. At her last stop before Granite Bay, Julie taught PE and was the Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Oakdale High School for 6 years. Julie strongly believes in the importance of high school athletics and is a huge proponent of whole person coaching: pushing players to be their best in the classroom, on the court, and as leaders in their community. 8th Grade Coach - Paul Prentice
Paul is the 8th grade coach at Olympus Junior High. Prior to joining The Bay, Paul coached youth basketball for the past 6 years as a coach of the Granite Bay Pumas. 7th Grade Coach - Chris Jackson
Chris is the Assistant Freshman Women's Basketball Coach at Granite Bay High School. Coach Chris began coaching basketball as a college student at the University of Notre Dame in 1998. Since 2008, he has served as the volunteer head coach for roughly 3,000 youth players in basketball, soccer, and lacrosse over 50 seasons. He also founded and operated Coach Chris Basketball in Illinois, a volunteer-run program that welcomed all skills levels and backgrounds and focused not only on the fundamentals of hoops, but the fundamentals of life. Coach Chris’ motto is, “Work Hard! Do Your Best! and Have Fun!” He believes doing these three things while maintaining a Growth Mindset will lead individuals to their passions in life and help them find happiness and true success, not only as players but as people. 5th/6th Grade Coach - Jamie Holmes
Jamie played Division 1 basketball at Santa Clara University and professionally overseas. He now spends his free time helping foster a love for the game for the youth girls of Granite Bay. 3rd/4th/5th/6th Grade Coach - Frances Patmon
Frances was most recently the 8th grade coach at Cavitt Junior High and has been coaching youth and high school girl's basketball for 20+ years. She previously coached at Armijo High School in Fairfield and launched and coached the Granite Bay Pumas Girl's Basketball Club. Her deep knowledge of the game as both a player and coach is invaluable to The Bay's mission of bringing quality coaching to the girls of Granite Bay. Frances believes in establishing the foundational skills of basketball.
